# Structured vs Tiimo

Two popular visual day planners compared side by side, with a plain answer on which one suits whom, and what to try when planning isn't the problem.

**The short answer**

Structured and Tiimo are both visual day planners: they show your day as a timeline of colourful blocks instead of a plain to-do list. **Structured** is the simpler and more minimal of the two. It's quick to set up, almost everything in it is free, and it suits people who want a clean timeline of their day. **Tiimo** was designed with neurodivergent people in mind, especially people with ADHD and autism. It has more built-in support, including a visual timer, AI help with breaking tasks down and planning, and mood check-ins, and it was named iPhone App of the Year at Apple's 2025 App Store Awards. If you want a light, fast planner, choose Structured. If you want more guidance and structure through the day, choose Tiimo. If your plan is fine but you still can't start the task on it, a planner won't fix that, and a starting app is a better fit.

Prices for both apps vary by country and change often, so check the App Store or Google Play for the current price where you live.

## Structured

Structured shows your day as a single timeline. Each task is a coloured block with an icon and a length, and the gaps between tasks show your free time. Tasks without a time wait in an inbox until you place them. It's fast to use, and the design stays out of the way.

According to Structured's help center, you can use almost every feature for free, including tasks, notifications, sync between devices, widgets and an energy monitor. Structured Pro adds recurring tasks, calendar and reminders import, Structured AI, replanning of unfinished tasks and more customisation. Some Pro features aren't available on Android or the web yet, so the iPhone and Mac apps are the most complete.

**Choose Structured if** you already know what you need to do and want a clear, quick picture of when you'll do it, and you'd rather not pay for a planner.

## Tiimo

Tiimo was built for people who find time and planning hard, and it's widely used by people with ADHD and autism. It combines a visual timeline with routines, a to-do list, a visual focus timer and mood check-ins. Its AI co-planner can turn a brain dump into tasks, break big tasks into steps and suggest how long they'll take.

Tiimo has a free version, and Tiimo Pro unlocks more of the app, including its AI tools. In late 2025, Apple named it iPhone App of the Year.

**Choose Tiimo if** you want more support through the day, such as routines, gentle structure and help breaking things down, and you're happy to pay for it.

## The main differences

### How much the app does for you

Structured shows your plan clearly and leaves the rest to you. Tiimo does more of the work, with AI planning, routines and check-ins. More features can mean more help, but also more to set up.

### Who it was designed for

Structured is a general planner that many people with ADHD also use. Tiimo was designed for neurodivergent people from the start, and its design choices, such as visual timers and routines, reflect that.

### Cost

Structured's free version covers most of what most people need. Tiimo's free version is more limited, and its paid plan generally costs more than Structured Pro.

## When neither one is the answer

Planners solve the problem of knowing what to do and when. Many people have a good plan and still don't start the task that matters most. It sits on the timeline at 10:00, and at 10:00 they do something else. That's procrastination, and a better plan doesn't fix it, because the problem isn't the plan but how big and unpleasant the task feels when it's time to begin.

For that, a starting app helps more than a planner. Startr focuses on one thing you keep putting off. It writes a first step that takes two minutes, asks when and where you'll do it, and at that time counts you down from three and starts a five-minute timer. It doesn't plan your whole day, so many people use it alongside a planner such as Structured or Tiimo. ## Questions people ask

### Is Structured or Tiimo better for ADHD?

Both are popular with people with ADHD. Tiimo was designed for neurodivergent people and offers more support, such as routines, a visual timer and AI help with breaking tasks down. Structured is simpler and mostly free. Try both free versions for a week and keep the one you actually open.

### Is Structured free?

Yes. Structured's help center says almost every feature is free. Structured Pro adds recurring tasks, calendar import, AI and more customisation.

### Is Tiimo free?

Tiimo has a free version with core planning. Tiimo Pro, which is a subscription, unlocks more features, including its AI tools.

### What if I plan my day but still don't start?

Then the problem is starting, not planning. Make the first step take two minutes and give it a start time. The free [first-step tool](https://startr.online/first-step) writes a first step for you, and Startr adds the start time, a countdown and a timer.

**Try it on your own thing**

If your plan is fine but one task never gets started, Startr is built for that. You type the thing you keep putting off, it writes a first step that takes two minutes, you pick a time and a place, and at that time it counts you down and starts a 5-minute timer. There's no sign-up, and the web app works on any phone or computer.
